On August 23, 2019, an exclusive media preview was held at Aquaria Phuket, followed by the opening ceremony led by Dato Simon Foong, Managing Director of the Aquawalk Group that owns and operates Aquaria Phuket, the largest aquarium in Thailand.
The visit is divided into eight different sections, such as the Mystic Forest, which takes the guests through a land filled with creatures from Thai folklore, and the River Caves and Coastal Haven, home to the playful otters and quirky penguins.
The main tank holds more than 3.5 million liters of water, and is home to Andasi Restaurant Night & Lounge, the world’s largest underwater restaurant and Asia’s first marine lounge.
Aquaria Phuket also features a Trick Eye Museum, the world’s first Augmented Reality art museum, featuring optical illusions and incredible panoramas to amaze guests; simply download the dedicated app on the App Store or Play Store, and start taking pictures within the museum to discover a virtual world hidden behind each scene.
Aquawalk Group’s Managing Director, Dato Simon Foong said “The Aquawalk Group has had a successful history of building and managing edutainment facilities, and we are proud to add Aquaria Phuket to our group. We hope to be able to work together with Phuket Governor to continue to grow Phuket as the number one destination of choice in Asia, and to draw more tourism to downtown Phuket together with CPN, the operator of Central Phuket.”
Aquaria Phuket is open daily from 11:00 am till 6:00 pm.
